Abstract

ITALIANO: L’articolo chiarisce alcune questioni metodologiche legate al dibattito sul volume "Writing the Holy Land", soffermandosi in particolare sul concetto di memoria culturale e sul ruolo della scrittura nella creazione di una memoria condivisa. Chiarisce inoltre la posizione del libro nel quadro dei recenti studi sulla Terra Santa, mostrando la centralità dell’attività di scrittura dei frati minori di Gerusalemme, un tema che era stato fino ad ora trascurato negli studi sul rapporto tra Cristianità latina e luoghi santi. / ENGLISH: The article clarifies some methodological issues related to the debate on the volume "Writing the Holy Land", and in particular the concept of cultural memory and the role of writing in the creation of a shared memory. It also clarifies the position of the book in the context of recent studies on the Holy Land, showing the central role of the writing activity of the Friars Minor of Jerusalem, a subject that had been neglected until now in the study of the relationship between Latin Christianity and the holy places.
