Abstract

This essay aims at formulating some considerations about two documents dated in the first period of the Norman domination in the Southern Italy. Those documents were respectively made in 1108 and in 1111 and, nowadays, are conserved in the Archive of Saint Nicholas' church in Bari. Their authenticity has often been questioned: examinating all their characteristics, it's possible to consider as a false the first document, dated to 1108 but actually written in Saint Nicholas' church in the XII century, while, on the other hand, it's difficult to speculate precisely about the second one, dated in 1111.
