Abstract
[IT] Attraverso la lettura di alcune lettere di Nicolas de Clamanges viene analizzata la periodizzazione della storia culturale francese, disegnata in una forte polemica con Petrarca sul primato da attribuire a Italia o Francia. L’umanista francese compie una riflessione sulla storia, vista come una lunga durata, ed emette così un giudizio sulle epoche che si succedono dall'antichità ai suoi giorni. / [EN] Through the reading of some of Nicolas de Clamanges’ letters, the division into periods of French cultural history is analysed, pointed out in a sharp controversy with Petrarch on the preeminence to be attributed to Italy or France. The French humanist reflects on history, considered to be long lasting, and thus passes judgment on the ages that follow one another from antiquity to his day.
