Abstract
ESPAÑOL: Los territorios al norte del Sistema Central no estuvieron sujetos a un dominio por parte de una autoridad centralizada entre los siglos VIII a XI. Los instrumentos del poder central, en especial la tributación y la organización episcopal, se descompusieron tras el siglo VIII y asumieron un papel determinante las estructuras de poder local, las cuales deben ser el principal objeto de estudio. A partir de su análisis, se descubre un espacio fronterizo abierto, con un dominio político informal, que es invisible para los poderes centrales. / ENGLISH: The territories at the North of the Iberian Central System were not ruled by any central authority between eighth and eleventh centuries. The main tools of the central power, especially the tribute and the episcopal organization, were broken down after the 8th century and the structures of local power, which must be studied particularly, got a very influential role. The analysis discover an opened frontier area, with an informal political control, that is invisible from the perspective of the central power.
