Abstract
ITALIANO: La ‘fortuna’ ha voluto che il primo registro pubblicato delle sentenze del podestà di Milano risalga all’anno 1385 in cui Gian Galeazzo Visconti, con la cattura dello zio Bernabò, conquistò il completo potere su Milano e sulla signoria lombarda. Come attestato dal registro, la repressione degli avversari politici non avvenne nella corte del podestà, ma fu forse affidata a procedimenti speciali della corte signorile. Tutto questo induce a ulteriori riflessioni sul rapporto tra podestà, signoria e comune cittadino e sull’organizzazione del governo da parte di Gian Galeazzo che dieci anni più tardi ottenne il conferimento da parte dell’Impero del titolo ducale. / ENGLISH: As ‘luck’ would have it, the first published register of the judgements of the Milan potestas dates back to the year 1385 when Gian Galeazzo Visconti captured his uncle Bernabò and seized the entire power over Milan and the Lombard domain. As attested by the register, the repression of political opponents was not tried by the communal courts of justice, but might have been assessed by informal procedures in the seigneurial court. It all leads to further considerations on the relationship between potestas, dominus and civitas and on the organization of the government under Gian Galeazzo who succeeded in the task of obtaining the Ducal title ten years later.
