Abstract
The text analyzes the results of the pontifical investigation which judged, in the 1276, the events related to the stolen relics of Ruggero, the Canne’s bishop, and the consequent failed attempt to erect a new episcopal see in Barletta. The event represents a main step for the construction of the public space of the Apulian city, during the thirty year period of the Swabian-Angevin transition and its passage toward the surrounding territory in the following decades.
