Abstract
The aim of this paper is to offer initial considerations on two Capuan archbishops’ careers of the early Angevin age, Cinzio della Pigna and Salimbene (1286-1296). The papal bulls and the Angevin documents show that, at the end of XIII century, the papacy promotes to the ecclesia Capuana, after Marino Filomarino, men faithful to Holy See, rejecting strong contenders from the king’s entourage. To conclude, the mandates of the two archbishops are presented also in a broader chronological perspective (1286-1311), to highlight the ecclesiastical change and continuity in Capuan diocesan district.
